The problem
An increasing disconnect
The American public is increasingly disconnected from the public policy process. A recent national survey found that most Americans believe that the views of ordinary voters are not considered by either party. Policy leaders, in turn, don't always understand how their policy insights and recommendations affect those outside of Washington.
55% of the public say "ordinary Americans" would do a better job solving problems than elected officials
Our Mission
Bridge the Discourse Gap
The Engaging America Project (EAP) wants to bridge the gap between policy leaders (academics, experts, and government officials) and the American public. We're arranging conversation-driven events across the country where established experts and concerned citizens can exchange ideas and share new perspectives.
